Eight miles today.  we went out onto the Arizona strip today and ran.  The first half mile is brutal.  Loose gravel with a slight uphill.  You can't get any traction.  The group also started out at 7:20 pace and I could not stay with them on the gravel.  I talked to Ben on the way back and he said it is an unconcious reaction to running with people, you naturally speed up.  But again, I was too far behind to catch up completely.  I am going to Acceleration today to build speed, so that should give me an extra mile.
